Don't sell the daycare idea short b/c of the pool quite yet, since you can buy a portable fence that will help a lot or an alarm for anything that falls in the pool and most parents would be cool with that. Renting the room out to a college girl a little older than your d, may not be bad either. You have options to explore. Explore them before you rule them out, you know...

then, sit back down make room for yourself on the curb but on a little hill if you can, for the view of the firetrucks and floats. They're nice this time of year, which here, is pretty close to being summer time...
