I told him about the details to purchase my new car. He made a rude comment in front of the kids "I'm gonna take your mom to the used car lot." Whatever. This is a guy who normally gets excited to buy me anything big or small but that man is gone I know.

I was going to get a base model car and he said, "no let's get the fully loaded one"

so did you go to the used car lot? if you didn't, then take his comment as a joke, because that's what it is, don't take his comments personally. and you say that man is gone, but I still see him in there because he wanted you to get the fully loaded one. if he didn't give a crap, he wouldn't be getting you a fully loaded car.

I know you think he's doing things out of feeling guilty, but that's not true. yes, part of it can be, but deep down he is wanting YOU, the real you. So start becoming that person.

your slowly making it to the right path, so keep doing the things you know you should be doing.

and you answering the kids that your tired of him not having anything nice to say...well, normally that's not the words I would have chosen, but you stated what you felt and it has obviously bothered you, so this is a battle you chose to pick and he turned himself around and that was good.
