Mindfull--it certainly sounds like you are ready to woman up and ask for what you need.
You might not get it. But you will have the comfort and the strength of knowing you lived and asked for what you needed honestly. That might be cold comfort in whatever backlash happens, but I have to believe it will be worth while later.
And whatever you are doing at work--shaping things to fit your skills, interests,passions--it can happen in the rest of your life, too.
