Yup, if you don't have a handle on the food stuff, it's really hard to lose weight. I had a contract where I hiked for about six hours a day for 3 months. I don't think I lost a single pound (I ate more to compensate for the energy burned). What has worked for me is calorie counting (tracking foods at FitDay.com). What I like is that I can eat whatever I want as long as I control portions. Some days I eat giant piles of veggies and all the good stuff. Other days it's not so ideal, but I still stay within my target range. And the weight gradually comes off.

And the exercise you're doing is great! You probably are burning fat as others have pointed out.
