OB, I hate to see this happening to you. You should have let her suffer the consequences and move out of the house that day she was playing in the bathroom.
Like Rob says, it's time to walk your own path. I'd follow your FIL's advice. He knows his D far longer and better than you do. If she pursues you (which I don't think she will for a while) you let her beg, borrow and squeal.
