I was just checking my e-mail and had a message from a student with pics to download (sometimes they send visual illusions and the like)...well it passed the McaFee virus check, but wouldn't open normally...the hard drive just kept chugging and chugging...with no little folder icon to indicate down load progress etc.
I got scared and cancelled it...deleted the file, but my computer is still chugging!
I turned it right off and rebooted, but it doesn't seem quite right...still too much chug and when I hit my hotmail icon it went to Yahoo.com???? I had to type in www.hotmail.com to get there???
If you're around later, any thoughts would be appreciated. I've been kind of feisty today. Hope you're doing okay and that your computer is okay, also.
Glad to hear that you're feeling better today shiny:):) ENjoy this time, because if Cj got the bug.. then you'll probably be getting it too LOL It's been happening to us here a lot , which is good, right... after all bugs don't pass from them to us from a distance :)
What was the extension on the attachment do you remember? Maybe it was just to big, although it does sound strange... OH NO!!! You broke your computer !!! LOL no really, maybe the format wasn't right, or it was a huge attachment. sometimes people send pictures without resizing and then they don't realize that it's huge. Hugsies nightshade

Yup poor sick man showed signs of stirring and I asked him how I'd know if my computer had a virus.
I KNOW he was not up for this (we have a bit of unpleasant history surrounding me freaking out while he's trying to troubleshoot stuff on the computer for me )...but things were starting to not work properly and my ENTIRE WRITTEN LIFE is on this hard drive.
Note to self: Buy CD rom tomorrow and back up all files!!!
I'm talking 15 years worth of my dream diaries, journals, all lectures, tests, letters....ARRRGGGH!
Wait a sec....with about 10 mintues of clicking CJ downloaded a virus scan....we had to wait nearly two excruciating hours but it checked all files and deleted 21 that were infected.
Seems to be working fine now...
I DID get a bit antsy while CJ was working on this, but nowhere near how I'd get before (it WAS a struggle though )...When I laid on the couch to wait out the scan my hands were icy cold and dripping wet, heart rate up about 15 BPM
Can you say "Stress Response?"
I DID thank CJ more than once and tried to give him a hug...he wasn't very responsive...I SHOULD chock that up to him feeling sick, right?
