Could also just be the natural state of things...ups and downs...are they getting farther apart in time? Maybe just more time...
BUT...you talked about some "more of the same" stuff...the ILY that rings the same old way...let me ask you this...when was the last "shake up" in the ILY department that you started? Writing it in lipstick on the mirror...slipping a little note in his pocket...
