Hey girlie,

I run in Brook's about 90.00 plus inserts about 50.00..... You should go to a running store and let them check your "gait". They will tape your feet running on a treadmill and see how your alignment is. You have to take good care if your going to start running distances.

You would do fine at a 5k mileage in average shoes but once you start running further you'll need better. Watch out... it's addicting!

I'm doing the Seattle Rock n Roll marathon in June and Portland in Oct 10-10-10 (cool date, huh!)

SandyCay -

I knew someone was going to say this... We have a great running shoe boutique type store here. One problem. The bball coach that S10 told off Sunday night's wife owns it!!! I can't go in for awhile. I may have to settle w/the Dicks Sporting Goods specials for awhile!!!

LoL

I can barely go two blocks, so I think I will be okay...

BUT, I'm building on my pace and endurance!!!

smile

Love the marathons!

I say ---- go in to the running store with a friend---to take some of the awkwardness off----I'm sure the wife will be more interested in selling shoes than whatever happened between her hubby and your son.

I went to one of those stores to get the right shoe when I walked The 3 Day. It was well worth the stop! So good to read of your progress!

These are the shoes I wear now. I went to a running specialty store, he watched my stride and suggested them for me. I have worn them for a year, through the Marathon Relay and the 10 miles I did for Relay For Life. Time for new ones, actually...been wearing them to boot camp, too.

When I got them at the fancy store they were $120 but since they are 'last year's model' they are on sale now...

I've been reading about the running shoes with interest, since I was starting to think along these lines too- I need to do something! But does anyone also have a suggestion for a good sports bra? the girls have way too much bounce when I run...

Di - I'll get there, but good idea! The BFF runs, and she bought her shoes there... I'll drag her with!

BBJ - I think I'm convinced I need to get to the running shoe store... I like New Balance. Hope they are "appropriate"!!!

SpyBunny - Yea! Glad to see you here. I was wondering about you...

So, finally a perk to being small on top! I just buy mine anywhere, right now I have several from Target (C9) bc I liked the colors... grin

BobbiJo, I can beat that. When I walk in the winter sometimes I don't even wear one. shocked blush grin The long sleeve shirt and coat keep me covered so I'm decent but I really don't need one. Now running is a bit different so I do wear the ones from Target or Nike that I got on sale at Sports Authority.

For running, go with something that will last a long time and look hip:
