H just left with S3. Before he goes, he says "hey come here, you look really good, you can tell you've lost weight, you look really nice, really good."

Why do they say things like this? Now I am confused again.

i've been advised by many on my thread not to read into everything they say. obviously, take the compliment and be glad he's noticed a change, but try not to focus too much on what he meant or now what do you do.

my H sometimes says he loves me when we get off the phone. sometimes he does not. i could drive myself insane trying to figure out what's going on in his head. the best advice i've been given about that? stop trying to figure it out.

ever think of accepting a compliment just like you would from someone else who isn't involved in your situation?

Get it in your head, you can control their actions, jeckyl and hyde and all the good stuff that comes with it.

One day they're nice, another they're crappy, big deal.

Don't be confused, let go of the need to control them and their actions, until you do this successfully, you'll continue to be confused.

You control you, you know you.

Just say "thank you for noticing" and leave it at that, you aren't starved for affection, you're internally validated.
