Just thought I would drop in to wish all the lovely ladies (actually the lovely guys as well)a happy valentines day. I know alot of folks on this site are not neccesarilly with the person they would like to be with on a day like tommorow. However, in spite of what we have all been through (or going through), I remain convinced that there are alot of nice people worth caring for. It is just a matter of putting yourself out there when you are ready.

Had an interesting converstaion with NGF this weekend regarding her XH, not sure how it all started. Actually her X treated her pretty badly and stole substantial amounts of money from her to support some habits....you get the picture. Now what has left me perplexed is the fact that she intimated that if I were not there, she would perhaps give this person another shot. Now trust me I have read all sorts of things here and this gentleman would be in the top three XHs fro sure...no and ifs or buts. Well what is disturbing is the fact that she would "possibly" give it another go "for the children".
I do not know why but I am having a little difficulty digesting this. She has made it very clear that it is a useless discussing becasue I am there and she is in love....but somehow something is not right. I still have "feelings" for my XW but I know at an intellectual level that she is poison for me. Therefore, whether NGF is there or not does not change anything for me. Maybe I am exagerating this whole conversation but it does leave me somewhat perplexed on a couple of fronts.

interesting brother...more interesting to me is that she would tell you that..share that information with you...Women are tied to their emotions pretty much..I think that may be the reason they most(lots of them) always say they will always love the father of their children...

Hmmm, that is tough to explain without sounding like ...an idiot. Remember that Quantum of Solace explanation? I believe that for some women, that Quantum of Solace stays with them for a while, if not forever. If we, (and I count myself as one of those), act on it, meaning "give the father of my kids another chance" is more an issue of circumstances when the feeling of love fades out than an issue of the feeling itself. Which means my caro John, you are just a circumstance...LOL (it could actually mean you came into her life for that exact reason, keep her away from him).

I told H once in the beginning, if PC wasnt so far away, he(H) would be history. Tough and cruel and against the reconciliation theme but it is exactly what we profess here :"love is a decision". I made a decision to build on that Quantum of Solace and see where it takes me. But if things were different, my decision would be different as well.

John - I wish she would not have shared those thoughts with you. But take assurance that her exH is her backup man and you are her main love muffin man.

Canada plays Norway tonight in mens hockey. I think that I read that Canada is favored to get the gold.

My kids and I went to a local hockey game yesterday as part of the cub scouts/girl scouts. There was a nice Hockey 101 introduction before the game for the kids (and myself). It was very interesting to learn how the ice is put on and taken off. The guy giving the introduction was extremely funny. He was talking about how for Disney on Ice they make the ice thicker which results in making it wetter for a pretty appearance, but that for hockey they want it rock hard since it is going to be covered with teeth and blood! It is amazing how much padding and armor a hockey player has to wear. They are like knights in armor on ice.

The game was enjoyable even though our team (Portland Winterhawks) blew a 2 point lead in the 3rd period and lost to the Moose Jaw Warriors. It is a league with young fiesty players between 16-20 years old and some of the Canadian cities in it are but blips on the map.

Ciao Bello..

Thanks for being such a good friend.. *hugs*

I think you're perplexed. When she said she was in love, you were perturbed. Her thought of giving the former not so nice spouse a second chance if you weren't there, left you confounded. Her youngest child with the Dennis the Menace syndrome astonishes you.

I think you have a firm grasp of what you are and aren't looking for and are very centered. You're adept at recognizing red flags and then seeing what happens.

Me? I have no clue what her telling you that means.. misplaced honesty? Thinking out loud? Passive aggressive behavior? Checking to see your response?

Keep being the perceptive guy you are. And send pictures in case you ever vacuum in that thong again!

*hugs*

thanks Gyps...i am not sure you want to see the pictures....LOL

Kerry, Portland winterhawks/ know them well...western junior hockey leaugue....many an nhler did their junior program with that team; Cam Neely, Mark Messier to name just two. Junior hockey is like your college football...players are drafted at 18 yrs. old but are eligable to play till 20 before the NHL...

Maria, i do not think I have ever been called a circumstance before....and i have been called alot of things!

Hey Mike, I am kind of glad you are perplexed! You alwasy have the answers bro!

Anyhow, no use worrying about it...day by day.

Looking at our roster...most of the players are from Canada.

When I used to go to a boxing gym, I talked with a Winterhawk who was there for a bit during the summer. He said that he was wanting to learn to punch better. He said the trick in those hockey fights is to pull your opponents jersey over their arms so they cant hit back.

I was pondering with my son what it would be like if Alexander Ovechkin played in yesterdays game. I suspect he would have owned the ice against the lads who were making quite a few dumb mistakes.
