That's an interesting conclusion to reach given that it's a man who wants the jewelry back.

Dudess no chocolate for you,
apparently you have dental work that needs to be done.

Conflicting opinions around here about as common an occurrence as is breathing air.

So a guy asks for the engagement ring back, he's wrong.
So a lady wants to keep the engagement ring, she's right.

I've told guys a millions times on these forums,
don't argue with women, women always win arguments ;-)

Better to just nod, smile and agree.

Right you are robx. I may have to melt down the gold in my rings to put in dental crowns. wink

And men say that women are illogical! smirk Nobody said that.

I don't think men or women should ask for rings back (assuming they got married), unless in the heirloom situation. If I had been given an heirloom ring and I did not have children with the man, I would return it so he could keep it in the family.

I think DB's own Steve McQueen said it best:

Quote:
Woman are beautiful and complex creatures. They are not for figuring out. They are for making happy.

I think the penguins on Madagascar say it best. "Just smile and wave boys. Smile and wave"

I agree with what Dudess posted.

"So a guy asks for the engagement ring back, he's wrong.

Like so many current social stereotypes this reeks of hypocracy.

My wife stopped wearing both the WB and ER long before she divorced me. And possibley even before she dropped the bomb. If I think about it because I noticed she did not always wear her ER all the time. Excuse: Dont want to break it, scratches my car etc.

When she dropped the bomb she left them sitting on a table like discarded junk. Never told me she stopped wearing them.

I kept them. Out of spite you say? No. Kept them as a reminder of what was, what went wrong and what not to do in the future. She did not want them anyway.

If she ever comes out of her fog (which I doubt) I will make a new ring for her with a new stone and add the old stone too it to represent the fact that I never stopped loving her. The new stone on it would represent our new love. (yes, I am having a fantasy right now). How romantic right?

Will never happen sadly. She has made that clear. I do however still hold on to fools hope.

I will probably give both rings and also my WB to my Son if he decides to wed and he can use them if he wants.

To me an engagement ring is not a "gift". It is either a symbol of my love and commitment to her or it is just a piece of metal now. But I never saw it as a "gift".
