My H has a standing joke that he is "cheap", which he really is not, but is one to shout it from the rooftops when he gets a deal or something free.
So, we get to the soccer game, and while the boys have season tickets, my H and I do not, as we didn't know if we would go to that many games... So, I'm waiting in line to get our tix, while H is doing his talktalktalk thing to people we know in line, as well. A complete stranger walks up and asks my H if we need two adult tix, as they can't use them... LoL So, free tix for us...
Then, we get into the game, and sit w/friends (owner of the boys soccer club who have boys on both of our boys teams), and H's proudly displaying his free tix. The couple is laughing, and we all get involved in catching "free" frisbees that they throw to the crowd, catching "free" t-shirts, etc... H's living large now.... So, when the game is almost over, everyone is talking about going out for dinner. H tells the other couple that we'll take their family out (our treat) since he's had such an inexpensive Valentine's Day evening. All agree to go, and we do. So, after dinner H goes to pay the bill, and the soccer club owner had already paid when he went to the restroom earlier! LoL AND, before we got up to leave, soccer club owner extends an envelope to S12. In it is a personal invitation to be evaluated by the US National team selection committee. Soccer Club owner is employed by the governing organization, and is in charge of selecting up to two players per club to be evaluated (for selection to the US National team), and S12 is one of the two (no idea if he invited anyone else or who)!!! S12 will be S13 very soon, and with that comes big boy sports, I guess! Wow. Everyone beamed! What an honor. To just be invited! Makes all of my running around worth it!
