Then I hope for a GOOD night's sleep for you..pleasant dreams!

Thinking of the stress link to IBS...I've been very down today..think it affected CJ as he's been running to the bathroom..

Pam, my dear, I suspect he just means he is concerned about you. More concretely that you might overreact to his posting something he felt at that moment, in a 'just venting' spirit. We all post things that we feel very strongly about when we think that venting at our S may strain the R. If our S were to read that post, it would be easy to overreact.

Optimist wins the prize. I think a big part of my concern is that you tend to analyze things in great detail. When you get really upset, you don't necessarily stop and think clearly, but get on an emotional charge.

Pam...CHL CANNOT post freely knowing you are reading. I think your reassurances about his "private" thread were very much needed.

But as he knows only too well, there are times when you can get into a state where you are NOT thinking clearly...THAT's what he's concerned about.

Exactly

On the OTHER hand, CHL, at SOME point Pam NEEDS to know where your heart and head are at...right?

I sense that you may not be ENTIRELY sure of that yourself right now...or perhaps your ARE, but are afraid of what it would do to her in her present state.

I feel for you, I really do.

Peace and a good night's sleep to you!

Right again. Thanks.

I have posted that I will quit reading this thread if David wants me too. So far he has not given me any indication that he is interested in taking it over and my staying off of it.

At this time I assume he prefers we both use it. I am open to change here if he wants it.

This is Pam's thread. I'm posting here to decide if I wish to start my own thread, and would be comfortable doing that. Pam has said several times she'll stop reading the thread if I ask her to.

i see your up david, like me! LOL

i didn't get to properly welcome you to the bb so i wanted to do that now

WELCOME

i do hope you decide to venture into the realm of your own thread at one point, but i have to admit that it is purely for SELFISH reasons

as much as i LOVE all the people on this board and i thank god for them everyday, there is something about a male perspective that i especially find compelling.

i do believe that my husband missed the boat in the engineering dept, meaning that is what he should have been with his analytical thinking, so seeing your perspective in things would i believe be beneficial for me.

ok ok, this is why i don't post at 1:30 in the am, i don't make any sense

anyhoo, welcome!

Thanks. I'm still not sure about starting my own thread. We'll see. As long as I'm on the board, I'll keep an eye on your thread.

Pam and I joke that I'm not a "real" engineer because my MEng is in computers.

You're making perfect sense. Uh.... should that scare me?

ah yes, be afraid, be very afraid

just to let you know ... my hubby is a computer geek (oops did i just say that outloud?) along with being a musician and is an engineer of the english language (haha, he also should have been a lawyer) - so our communication style, well um, let's say, we still haven't found a happy medium yet! LOL

Hey CHL...probably my last post of the night...

Just caught a post you made earlier to BillM (I think)...

I, too like spiritual material...but have that scientific training and bent that ALWAYS wants to see the data...were the studies sound??? (I teach statistics!)

The lastest one I've been reading really covers all bases...it's called "Destructive Emotions" by Daniel Goleman (in conversation with the Dalai Lama)

A bit of a research tome as it makes us of western science, brain imaging etc. to validate the positive influence of meditation...Pretty amazing stuff:

For example: People who mediate actually SHIFT activity in the brain from the right hemisphere (centre of negative emotions like anxiety, worry, dread) and into the left hemisphere (joy, eagerness, anticipation)...

I find it SOOO exciting to read material that SHOWS how much power we have over our own thoughts and mood states.

Cheers and nighty night!!!

Shiny

p.s. Pam...little tip for you, CHL was kidding with Bill about LL's (Bill said my LL is W not leaving!!), CHL added how about "the sound of silence" as an LL.

Hmmmmm....any insights to be gleaned there?
