The Dog did some financial homework this week re recovering from Chapter 13. I pulled reports, checked some things, joined a bankruptcy discussion group and read some stories.

I even compared a few notes and discussed some things with the she. We're still on the same filing so we have to work together on this.

Some thoughts:

- Don't groan about the decision. We were at the end of the rope and our choice was to file or try negotiating and partially paying off each creditor one at a time; death by a single bullet or a thousand paper cuts.

- Ch 13 is not easy. The plans don't leave a lot of extra at the end of the month. I just want it to be over.

- I'm never going back. There is really only one thing I ever desire credit for again and that's a mortgage on a small house or condo.

- I will need time to repair. Patience.

- The Dog has always hated money. Hated dealing with it. Being defined by it. I will work with it and keep it in it's place.

- Our grandparents had it right. Live simple. Pay cash or go without. Be happy with what you have.

It wasn't all work.

This weekend Dog skiied at the cheap local place (one of two volunteer run areas left in the U.S.). One of the lifts opened up for the first time this season and I got to make first tracks through very deep snow. The only way to get this stuff usually is to hike for hours. It was one of those days that people will tell stories about.

Sunday, went riding outside. Saw eagles, ravens, and an eccentric neighbor walking his pet reindeer (I'm not making this up).

I was supposed to meet up with a friend but the weather made the drive too difficult. Awww...

Today starts "week on" with kids.

The Dog read something last week that stuck:

"Meet people where they are."

This idea has really changed how I approach everyone.

The Dog is disenfranchised with so many things lately. Spending, economy, jobs, education, housing, etc. I feel like I (we) were sold a bill of goods.

It's not for lack of personal optimism (macro optimism is another story). I just feel the things valued, conventional wisdom, and the common model was (is) flawed.

Won't get fooled again.

Med check for the Dog today.

I said overall doing ok but the Black Dog still comes around once in a while. I think it's related to life (natural).

Dog is doing ok on this Rx and will continue indefinitely.

Hey man, I hope things are going good with you. The weather has been sucking down here since about the end of last November. I'm ready for Spring and consistently good weather for riding. This thing with the kids mom is getting really mean and nasty...it'll do me some good to get back out on the road. You do sound good though, even though I know some days are better than others.
