Glad that every thing went politely and pleasantly hun! It is so hard to see them leave every time but it does get easier as time goes on. Just enjoy the baby step of him coming and spending some time with you all as a family, perhaps in a few weeks time you can ask him over for sunday lunch and see how that goes.
