Not much new here. I went dancing on Saturday, and D17 and her Bf came with me. We had a good time. One of the gentlemen I danced with was really sweet- he said that the really nice thing about my dancing was that I smiled the whole time we danced. He's danced with several ladies with stern looks- they must be concentrating too hard on their dancing to look like they're having fun. He also showed me some more advanced moves- he was a good teacher, and we had fun.
And one other thing- There was an incident involving the mailbox stand for our section of the apartment complex. Looks like someone ran into it last Wednesday night. An anonymous "witness" fingered my daughters boyfriend, and that he did it with a Jeep. Thursday afternoon I get a call from the PD asking what I knew, and the high school's resource officer pulls D17 out of class to ask her the same thing. D17 and I both say the same thing- D17 and her BF were not at my apartment on Wed., plus he doesn't drive- she drives him everywhere in a Chevy. Ok- the cops says he'll have to talk to the "witness" again.
I get a voice mail the next morning, and the officer pulls his stern "Sgt Joe Friday" voice. (I ask one of the attys at my office to listen in while I talk to him on speakerphone before i call him back.) This time the "witness" says he saw me arguing with my daughter and a guy with a green jeep at 1:30 am, saying "Don't f*** this up for me, I just got here, etc..." He says I then go back to my apt., and the guy destroys the mailbox with the jeep.
Now- My H drives a green jeep, but he wasn't here on Wed., plus I haven't had any loud arguments with anyone (I never have loud arguments- I'm not that brave, you guys know that, and I don't curse like that), plus I was asleep at 1:30 am. I repeat my story to the officer- alone, asleep, no fighting... and I have H call to schedule an appt. with the officer to inspect his jeep, which he does so immediately. The officer looks at it and sees no damage, in fact the thick layer of road salt isn't even disturbed- the jeep looks more white than green! The officer ends it by saying he has to talk to the "witness" again, and he'll get back to me. I'm still waiting- that was on Friday.
I can't imagine why someone is telling this story- it doesn't make sense. Either the witness is being truthful and just has the wrong apt. and family, or he/she is blame-shifting in my direction to cover up for someone else.
As far as I know, I haven't done anything to piss anyone off, and I've only met one neighbor so far. It scares the crap out of me that someone else paid enough attention to me to know that I'm new, with a teenage daughter, and an occasional male visitor with a green jeep. And H has only been here a handful of times since I moved (maybe 4 or 5 times), and those were for various electronic set-ups he was helping me with. Now I could understand picking out my D's car- she's here almost every day now, but the jeep?!? This is too weird- I'm worried that someone is watching me and my family and I don't know why. I think I'm glad I got the dog.

I don't blame you. Probably a harmless - though annoying - "troublemaker", "rabble-rouser." Seems like every neighborhood has at least one. But keep your wits about you, nonetheless.

Remember the conversation we had about spy cams and other sick nefarious devices H is probably familiar with? Why don't you have a computer-geek friend (if you have one) or a professional come in and give those "various electronic set-ups" a good going over?

I understand nosy neighbors. What I *don't* get is why someone made up that story to the police about me arguing at 1:30 in the morning and then someone from my family with a green jeep destroying the mailboxes afterward. That's going beyond nosy to outright malicious and smearing. That kind of stuff doesn't happen to me normally- I have a boring, suburban life.
Update- The mailbox incident is now in the PD's dead-end file. I would still love to know who made that cr@p up about my family.
No contact with H except for kid's schedules, taxes, and an insurance question. I don't think much about him, I hardly even miss him. I'm guessing he doesn't miss me either since I don't hear from him and that I did him a favor by leaving. (I know- mind-reading...I almost cried about it today but stuffed it.) I have also decided that he's a coward. Of course, I also have some other unflattering descriptions.
I went to IC this week, and she thinks I'm doing well. I'm going to do once a month appts. until we get the D papers done just to make sure I stay that way.
D17 is doing better, and the change is remarkable. She's much more comfortable when she's here, and that's a lot more often. She even brought an old cage to keep here so she can bring her pet rats with her when she stays overnight. She's also talking more, and she and her bf are signing up for the beginners jitterbug classes this month. (They want to look good at the prom in May!)
