I kinda like to mess with my clubs, but not pay a lot!
When my cheapies blew out I checked out Golfworks.com and bought parts to build a set of irons that for less than $150. I built a Golfsmith driver and one from Golfworks, I haven't decided which I like best yet, but the two of them together cost less than a name brand driver. And the five wood that serves me very well off the tee I built from Golfworks.
It isn't hard to do, and requires very few specialty tools, as long as you are not bending the loft and lie.
