Hey John (or other golfers) -

I am looking to finally upgrade my cheapy Nitro (Big 5) golf clubs. I tried the latest Nike Machspeed driver, wood and hybrid last night and they were great. However, I have a TaylorMade driver already that is pretty good. And I am happy with my non-Nitro sand and gap wedges. So I am looking to get new irons, wood, hybrid, putter and bag only. I am thinking that last years models might be a good deal after Feb 1 when new stuff comes out.

Any recommendations on brands/models? Metal vs wood shaft. Putter type?

Wow....golf clubs.....hmmm

Lets start with the putter...I think that is the easiest choice. Basically whatever you are comfortable with. The majour brands these days are adyssey and scotty cameron (titleist) but wahtever works best for you to roll that ball into the hole.

If you like your driver stick with it. Since you are a relative beginner and are on the senior tour, peraps you should buy some of those clubs that Tom Watson uses. Adams has just introduced a new model

so you can probably get a good deal on these:

I like iron shafts in my irons and graphite for my woods and hybrids......voila....for a more detailed discussion, you know where I can be reached.

Thanks John - those hybrid irons look great. I like the word "forgivness" - it seems so DB related.

They have a putting lab where I take lessons. I will ask for a lesson using the technology and try out the different putters.

Senior tour? I believe that Kenny Perry is just 2 months younger than myself.

Kerry, remind me, I will ask my friend Ali who golfs A LOT and I'm sure would have a good recommendation.
Also, my cousin's H is a golf pro near Spokane.
Sorry for the hi-jack, john...
Something caught my eye just now, about go-go-go lifestyle.
Lately, I've had to slow down. An injury will do that to you (it can't be that I'm getting older, for crying out loud!).
Since stepping back, I've learned that people have avoided me in the past and (making an assumption here, but confirmed w/ my Sis) because I have days / weeks that are downright chaotic.
I prefer simple. Uncomplicated. Peaceful. Working my 12-step program helps with that.
Today, could you pray for me? That my day is simple, uncomplicated, and peaceful? Thanks, Goldey

I already checked out those "Adams A70s Idea" and they are very nice. I will probably get a set at my golf shop soon. And I tried out various putters last night at Dicks Sporting goods and I have a good idea which type I am most comfortable with.

Now I just need to figure out which fairway wood and bag.

These Pings sound pretty good...

The Ping Rapture V2 sounds great, but they are a might spendy.

I will try out the Pings and the Adams hybrids before making a decision.

Anything is going to be better than my chinese knock-off Nitro's.

I kinda like to mess with my clubs, but not pay a lot!

When my cheapies blew out I checked out Golfworks.com and bought parts to build a set of irons that for less than $150. I built a Golfsmith driver and one from Golfworks, I haven't decided which I like best yet, but the two of them together cost less than a name brand driver. And the five wood that serves me very well off the tee I built from Golfworks.

It isn't hard to do, and requires very few specialty tools, as long as you are not bending the loft and lie.
