I think it's wonderful you are reconnecting with your children too!!
Keep taking it a day at a time, I can understand completely about not wanting to interact with your ex. Give it some time and continue to focus on you. I think as you move forward you will infact get to that place where you can call them.
Keep working hard on you and remember your ex's poor morals, choices, and actions do not in anyway reflect on who you are.
So for now.....instead of making that call, have you thought about Skype. It's easy and free to download. You can text, voice, or video chat....and did I mention it's free. LOL.
