Can any good come out of giving W some "space"

Its like something gets inside of their heads and removes all the good memories/times of the M. I have notes, letters, and pictures that show otherwise. I have a note in my wallet that my W wrote me 5 years ago, it says

"I love you more each day we are married, thank you for sharing your life with me and letting me share mine with you. I Love you."

I showed her this note a couple months ago, she didnt have anything to say. My mom tells me how she would say how my W use to tell her how lucky she was to have a H like me and how much she loved me. I guess shes either a great actress or mentally unstable. I think its the latter. I was thinking today, I feel like I dont hate my W, rather I feel pity for her. I do miss my W though, the one that I married and had the good times with...

I keep asking myself, why? Why did it have to get to this point. You think you married a person who had the same values as you, who would never give up. I know, I know, everyone who gets married thinks they will never get a divorce...
