If the locks are ok you can have them rekeyed, rather than buying new ones. A lot cheaper.

I think the locks are all fine. But I don't plan on paying anyone to do anything to them. I was doing to replace the deadbolts myself since I don't know how to rekey locks and DIY usually is cheapest lol.

Thanks everyone!

Making a phone call won't hurt. Locks are expensive. Years ago, it was cheaper to have a locksmith come out and rekey our locks than it would have been to buy new ones. There were five doors, though, so with deadbolts it was a lot of locks.

Ah, see I only have 3 to do. And 2 of those are deadbolt only.

If you can take them out and bring them to a locksmith, they should be about $15.00 each to rekey. I happen to make keys.

smile Too bad you don't live closer! LOL.

My roommate works at Lowe's, so with her discount replacing deadbolts is pretty cheap.

Would that include the cost of getting a couple keys made for them?

What I am concerned about is that I have no idea how many people have keys to the house since the couple that lost it in a short sale never turned over the garage remotes, and probably not all their spare keys, plus the current owner has at least 2 copies, and I only got one set.
