Hey y'all..

Yesterday I had a great time in NYC with a college friend. We'd met while in our junior year abroad in Italy and saw each other regularly until having children made visiting seemingly impossible. We hope to meet up once a month. It was great fun traipsing (and retracing) our steps. I'm also amazed at how easy it is to reconnect with friends from our youth. It's simple, uncomplicated and open.

I promised myself that if I received another demeaning unproductive email from him, I'd go through a lawyer to resolve issues.

Time to start interviewing.

Pick you battles with wisdom. You already know that he does not use logical thought on his battles and would prefer throwing money away to lawyers instead of settling things peacefully with a lot less expense on both ends. Can you suggest a mediator to him to help resolve things between you?

....you can always let it slide like the proverbial water on a duck's back (or soemthing like that)....alot cheaper.

I hope you are just venting and not really considering a lawyer to resolve a "demeaning unproductive email" matter.

Thanks for the candor.

We both interpret the divorce decree differently.

If we can come to agreement then most of the issues would be resolved.

I get the feeling he does not want to pay me one red cent, or reimburse me for my part of the children's medical expenses, or provide any documentation, while he expects all of that from me.

And to listen and obey.
Is insulting, demeaning and "My word is law.".

If I am factual, I'm wrong.
If I provide background, I'm confusing.
If I question, I'm an idiot.
If I do too much of the about, I receive "You are no longer my wife and I am not obligated to XYZ.." "Don't talk to me about financial hardship."

I do not respond in kind.

If he doesn't listen, or is not willing to review the settlement one on one, then a mediator or unbiased source might help untangle what our obligations truly are.

I hate to be the fighting toddlers in the sandbox.

Thanks for the suggestions and cooler heads.

*hugs*
