Guess what? The principal I applied with for the instructional aide job called tonight and offered me a job! The prek came open and she said it like I should have known she was going to hire me! I told her I was so sorry but I had already started my new job. She told me if any time in the future I wanted a job to apply there again. D10 is bummed, b/c it would have had the same school/vacation schedule as hers, but it didn't have benefits, and I have a feeling legally I'd be in trouble for accepting a lower-paying job, and I already made a commitment to my job.
Nice to know that if I don't pass probation (the whole first year) at my new job it sounds like I'd be able to get a job there. So more good news I think; I wish they'd called a month ago though!!!!
