It is relationship suicide to assume the other person is acting (or not acting) from unloving or neglectful motives.

If their motives are bad, they will eventually be unmistakably revealed as bad.

Until then, our own historical pains and insecurities may make our gut instincts tainted and untrustworthy, and we should actively treat them as such by choosing to assume the best.
