Gardner, sorry to hear about what happened..

How does a person simply discard a loved one?

I have wondered this myself. I then realized that we may never know the 'why' and that letting it go, is the only way to move past it.

I think for guys... No, not guys, Men, like us, who may have a 'fix it' mindset, we always want to understand the 'why' even when we can't, and that is something in ourselves that is hard to overcome.

But overcome it we must, or we only cause more pain to ourselves. Hang in there, you'll be fine.

Anyway, it was along the lines of:

I'm so sorry to hear the reaction of the step-kids. I can't add anything to what's already said- let them go and hopefully they will come back someday. In the meantime I hope you take strength in knowing that you are an incredible dad and friend, and we all love you here.

I've wondered that myself over the past year or two--it absolutely sucks to be discarded, especially when you have no idea why. I'm so sorry to hear this, and so sorry that your year began with someone going out of their way to cause pain.

Thank you. I'm fine now. All of you propped me right back up again and gave me the right perspective, as always. And, of course the Stepkids - StepAdults - are more than likely expressing pain and not trying to inflict pain.

Well, it being the first of the month and the first of the year, I just got the keys to my new place over at Surviving The Big D.
New address is Soaring Solo 2010.
Nice space, good neighbors.
I'll be moving in slowly between now and D-Day January 27th.
But you'll never get rid of me here, friends.
You guys, after all, preserved my sanity for some seven months and damn-near saved my life.

Thank you. It's certainly not the outcome I hoped for, prayed for and worked at when I discovered DB.
But in addition to all that I've lost during '09, I also lost '09 itself!
My sitch and DBing consumed my every waking minute every day. No more. There's an old saying that we each have two lives: one we're given and the other one we make.
It's time to make a new one.
