Just catchin` up with ya Jeff. Smelled a party brewing from way over here on the other side of the pond so hope you don`t mind if I gate crash! Bringing a bottle of Irish Mist and Bailey`s with me!
On an slightly less interesting note...
I see since your D that your XW seems even more keen to engage with you. Now, I do get that ANY woman would be intrigued by you Jeff(line up behind me ladies!) but I`m just formulating a theory here...
You know how some ppl can`t buy a house unless they see the showhouse first? Like they can`t imagine what a house would be like without stuff in it? Could it be that there are spouses who just need the final D papers before they realise oops this is the happy place they`d hoped it would be and that life with their former spouses was actually pretty okay...
Just wondering. Figure my STBX is showing signs of hitting that space soon. Sigh!

I am sure this happens. I don't think it's the case here, but I could be wrong. I think she always thought that we could be "friends". I don't think that she has a clue how much years of rejection hurt. I do expect that there will be days when she realizes that I wasn't completely useless, but I don't think she'll do anything about it. I hope not, because I don't want her back. The changes she would have to make a too great, I think.
I think there is ugliness coming up regarding S20. The good thing is that I think she will support me. He had at least some finals at college snowed out at the end of the term. The students had the option of taking the grade they had without the final, or taking the final after they return in January. I looked to see what grades had been posted, expecting either "Incomplete" or a final grade. Well, there was a C, and three F's. From my memories of college, you've got to try to get an F... they really don't want to fail you! Now, it's possible that the F's were posted with "0" in for the finals that he has yet to take, so maybe things are not as bad as they look. But it they are (as bad as they look), I told him that I am done paying anything for it. I guess I won't know until the next term starts, but hopefully in time to avoid paying for the whole term if it comes to that. He should be a B+ student, or even better if he wants to be. He won't talk about his grades, so I have a bad feeling. Yuck.
S21 on the other hand, has spent the last week plus driving a truck around town collecting toys for "Toys for Tots", which is run by the Marines. Since most of the reservists have jobs during the day, and his school is out, he has been doing a lot of daytime stuff. I have a feeling the number of hours is shocking. I don't know that he will get anything out of it other than an "attaboy", and some good feelings, but there are worse things to be doing!
Woke up with some indigestion, don't really know why... Anyway, it seems to be a bit better, I think I will go back to sleep!
Hey Jeff... could there be a reason for the drop in grades? I went from being an A student to a D student within one term when I fell in with the wrong crowd at 18... not good. My parents were just annoyed at me for getting bad grades and going out too often but they didnt probe more than that (but to be fair to them, I probably wouldnt have been honest with them if they had).
Gosh, so nearly 5 years? At least you have 4 great kids and you are bound to meet a lady so its all in front of you, yet to come. This is probably a silly question, but as for the lady golf date thing.. are you a member of a local golf club ? Because that would be the best place to try and meet someone ! Get into a golf league/tournament/club?? Or maybe you already talked about that here and I missed it..

Sounds like he was doing too much goofing off this semester! Did you guys have some sort of agreement about how much you would pay and what was expected (e.g. B 3.0 or better average)?

(((((Ali)))))(((((Michelle))))) I think he is just being exceptionally lazy. He does have the sense of entitlement that seems to go with being 20...
What's unfortunate is that it wasn't a sudden drop. He really goofed off last year, and was told that there had to be real improvement, or I would not be paying any more. I didn't put a number on it, since if I did I figured he would get the number plus 0.01! I am really hoping that the grades were posted as thought the finals were "0", and that they are really better than that. But last night when I talked to him briefly, he didn't seem to me to disagree with the possibility that he had F's going into the finals. Oh, well, there's nothing I can do about it for the moment.
Ali, joining a golf club isn't a bad idea! It does seem like most courses seem to have the men's clubs and the women's clubs... it's segragation, I tell you!
Heh. Yeah, semesters are so long you have so much time to goof off.
I never had this in undergrad, was on quarters. I liked it a lot better though. The semesters in law school nearly killed me. My attention span shorted out after 10 weeks and the rest of the semester just DRAGGED on to finals. Ugh. *stop sign* *stop sign*
Okay, moving on to happier thoughts, I made Guinness dark chocolate cupcakes last night for the work potluck today!

All the University of California schools have 3 quarters, 10 weeks each. Except Berkeley, but they just have to be different. It WAS perfect! Much more intense in some ways, and if you got behind trying to catch up was well nigh impossible, but if you didn't like a class it was over quickly. And it gives you more opportunities to take classes during the year.

Two of my coworkers are ready to kill their college freshmen. Let's see....one has a 1.43GPA and the other has a 2.6. The 2.6 was a 4.0+ student in high school, homecoming queen, prom queen, student body president, etc. 2.6 is unheard of for her. Of course, she joined a sorority so that's a bit of a stretch on her time....
