Deer are the most dangerous animal in the USA. About 130 people are killed each year by car accidents with deer. There are about 1.5 million deer/vehicle collisions annually, resulting in 29,000 human injuries and more than $1 billion in insurance claims in addition to the death toll. Deer also carry the ticks that transmit Lyme disease to about 13,000 people each year. Economic damage to agriculture, timber, and landscaping by deer totals more than $1.2 billion a year.

Bambi is not so cute when you look at the statistics.

The one thing that elk statue story reinforces - testosterone causes males, no matter what species, to be really stupid at times.

Well....
I sure don't seem to be posting as much, I guess I'm settling in. Met a new lady this week, pleasant, but no sparks at all, I don't think I well see her again, most likely. I'm not really rushing into the buffet line just now, and it's not bothering me too much. Right now patience is feeling like the right recipe, so I am going with it.

Oh! I have a story from last weekend that I forgot to write about. I was out shopping, and XW called to talk about something about the kids (I don't even remember what). It was a quick conversation, and as we were hanging up she said, "Love you". From the edges of conversations I here, that's what she always does when she talks to the kids on the phone, so I think it was a habit kicking in. My theory is that with the D done, and all, she is a bit more at ease in general. I was tempted to ask her if she realized what she had said (since she hasn't in years, literally), but I just let it go. My real thinking is that if she is a little less on edge, a little less high strung, it can't be bad for the kids.

I tried golfing yesterday. It is a stupid game. I hit some of the best tee shots I have in ages. But I compensated for that by not being able to hit an iron shot that did anything useful, and putting like I was using a baseball bat, or something! I might have to try again today, it's supposed to get up to 68!

S20 has made it home for Christmas break. He seems to be staying here. The little guys are with mom this weekend, so last night the two of us went to Buffalo Wild Wings, ate, and played trivia. While we playing one of the two of us won every round. We did let someone else take second once, we were disappointed! OK, we are easily amused!

I LOVE trivia! I really do need to find some people to go play with. None of my close friends like it at all. frown

You sound really good Jeff and I'm so glad!!! Your xw saying 'Love you' was most likely habit. Gabe has done that a couple of times which is extra weird because he never said that unless I did first. Hmmmm....whatever! I think you are totally right that if she is more relaxed it will be better for the kids. They feel tension sometimes more than we do. Our filters are much thicker than theirs. smile

Hope you get to golf again today and do better!

Jeff,

Happy Holidays! Next time invite me to BWW for trivia! Love it!!!

LOL on the Love You! Wonder if she shocked herself? Hopefully, she just feels more in her skin now, and comfortable... How did you reply?

Too funny about the golf. And great job on the trivia! That stuff is always fun.

Interesting how she let that slip. Habit is definitely a safe bet. They need that distance to start relaxing again.

Glad everything is going smoothly at least! smile

As for xw, she should love you, what's not to love?? smile

I am so jealous! I love BWW. On my top 5 places to go eat list! And I love trivia, but no one wants to play me cause I am pretty good at it... smile OK whenever I make it out for a visit we will go and play. I am sure you will beat me!

68?? You suck. It is 8 here with a negative windchill, we had freezing drizzle overnight so a 2 hour late start. I guess the downside of your neck of the woods is, no snow days!?!

Jeff - I was at the range when it was below freezing and the wind blowing. I was knocking the balls like I had never done before. I guy next to me complemented my shots and I told him I usually am not that great. He said it may be that the cold was causing my back swing to slow down.

I bet the dynamics of the ball may not fly as far in frozen weather, but I bet the frozen ground lets it bounce a lot further which may not be a good thing considering the hard frozen bumps.

There's no question that the "love you" was a habit... she just forgot who she was talking to. I didn't respond at all, it was as she was hanging up. I don't know if she even realized she said it. I think it is a good thing if she can relax enough for something like that to happen. It doesn't have anything to do with me, but it is good for the kids. It's a little funny. She calls more than I would have expected to tell me things I don't really need to know, at least not at that instant. It could be that she is just calling as they come up, so she doesn't forget, but sometimes it feels like she is having trouble detaching. That's a little weird. Maybe not unexpected after almost 25 years married, though. Even if it wasn't great for the last few years, it was long!

I'm not sure it actually got to 68 yesterday! It was cloudy most of the time, and a little breezy. Still had fun. Probably did better, on the whole. Putting was better, irons were usually better, tee shots were a little worse, but not awful. Every now and then, I think I might be able to figure it out. Then I wake up.

You are all invited to come play trivia and eat wings with me!

You are right BBJ, no snow days! We've had one "kind of" snow day since I've been here. If I remember right the buses kind of ran when they ran, and if you didn't make it, it was ok, but school was open. I think it all comes down to getting state money. By noon it was all gone, anyway.
