Freaks, Irregulars, Defects, Oddities? That's an Exonumia term, but not a bad one for this situation either!
FIDO
F It Drive ON
Really? You never heard that one in the Army? Methinks you are playing coy?
M22,H45,W45 S21/18D12 Retain faith that you will prevail in the end, regardless of the difficulties and at the same time confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be.
Godd*m! How f*cken oblivious can someone be? I absolutely cannot understand this. To quote Joliet Jake Blues, J*sus H. Tap-Dancing Chr*st! What f*cken planet does she inhabit????
She inhabits the planet of 'it's all about her!' Even the kids are less important to her than 'she' is!
"Always go straight forward, and if you meet the devil, cut him in two and go between the pieces." - William Sturgis, clipper ship captain, 1830's.
Another night in the trenches. Maybe it's the holidays or something. I can pitch FIDO all I want -- they're not letting it go.
Boy-Child (unprompted): "Know what I was thinking? It totally sucked how Mom ditched us yesterday."
Girl-Child. 20 minutes of bed-time crying. "Mommy started it! Why didn't she give you a second chance?" She was going through her usual short-list of things that aren't as good now -- I bought her this "Santa Buddies" movie she'd wanted to put into the holiday video rotation, for example, and she said, "If Mommy didn't start divorcing you then the movie would be even better!"
Then the real heart-breaker. I was just there-there'ing and Daddy-is-here'ing and it's-okay-to-cry-on-my-shoulder-that's-my-job'ing, and in the midst of her go-to list of stars that just don't shine as brightly anymore, she stopped dead in her tracks, flipped over on her side to look me straight in the eyes and said, "Oh no! This is happening to you, too!" It was if she realized for the first time that she and Brother aren't the only ones with feelings.
@Kettricken -- thanks. Believe me, I hope she just winds up using her powers for good and not evil.... The both of Themselves, in fact -- I just constantly flash on that 80s TV show "Wiseguy" and the breakthrough role for Kevin Spacey as part of the brother-sister mad-sociopath-take-over-the-world team Mel and Susan Profitt.
