Do you ever see rattlesnakes around your house? How about black widow spiders? Tarantulas?
I dont know how you Arizonians can survive. Here in Oregon, we are generally safe from wildlife, but I have heard that the state cougar population is now up over 5700. And that is not counting the more dangerous human cougars which I am somewhat interested in. Of course there are Great White Shark sightings from time to time, but we have yet to lose any surfers.
If Tarantulas would shave more often, I might like them more.
Black widows are rare in Oregon. We have the Great Basin and the Pacific Rattlesnake which are usually found in dryer regions but I have only seen them a couple times.
Rattlesnakes? Yep! I don' tsee them often, but I know they are around. One day I came back from walking the dog and there was one about four feet long wandering across the walk to the front door. Waited a bit for him to move on! The birds were all calling to each other about it!
Black widows! Yep! There was one living in the garage for a long time, I don't know if it is still there or not!
Tarantulas? Yep! Especially in the monsoon season, they'll come in the garage where it's dry. I nearly jumped out of my skin once! They are HUGE! Last year I drove down to a golf course in the mountains near Mexico. I think it had rained the night before, there were a bazillion tarantulas crossing the road!

Yeah, I saw tarantulas all the time down there in monsoon season. Least they ain't poisonous. Had one walk across my foot once lol. It tickled. But the ones down there are definitely huge!

I think the term "Lizard" is most appropriate for old wrinkled guys that crawl after much younger women. I also heard that Demi Moore does not like the "Cougar" term, but instead likes to be called a "Puma".
Maybe we should change back to the "Snakes and Beavers" channel...

I think Georgia has just about every bug known to man and some no one has bothered to name yet! Snakes? TONS! Lot's of water moccassins. Really though, the deadliest animal around here are the deer. They are a total menace. In rut season and right now they are everywhere and they charge cars all the time. Really scary. I almost hit one last night. After I managed to swallow my heart (it was firmly lodged in my throat) Marc started laughing hysterically. I told him it certainly wasn't funny that we could have been killed by a darned herbivore and he said, "Mom, I'm laughing because she crossed right at the deer crossing sign! Do you think she could read????"
