You all get big hugs!

It was an ok birthday. Not a big deal, I treated myself to a piece of cheesecake at lunch. I did get birthday wishes from all of the kids, so that was good. And of course good wishes from many DB friends here and in another universe!

Time to sleep!

Are the Wildcats ready to handle Ndamukong Suh in the holiday bowl? It should be a good bowl game.

Good question, Kerry! I don't think they've seen anything like him.... but who has? The good thing is that they can be balanced run/pass (especially if Grigsby can play, which sounds likely), so maybe thjey can at least keep him a little off balance!

I wonder how he will introduce himself to Nick Foles.

He went to the high school my father attended in Portland Oregon.

From Wiki: In 2009 Suh has registered 82 tackles and 12 quarterback sacks and has 24 quarterback hurries, 22 tackles for loss, 10 pass breakups, three blocked kicks, and one interception, including 12 tackles (seven for losses, a school single-game record) and 4.5 sacks in a 13-12 loss to the Texas Longhorns in the Big 12 Championship game.

In the Ngema tribe in Cameroon, Ndamukong means "House of Spears."

Poor guy is destined for a crappy NFL team though.

Hey Jeff,

Happy Late Birthday... I was flying and couldn't log on for some reason. Cheesecake is good and everyone knows anything you eat on a holiday never adds calories.

Back to Football or whatever you guys are talking about!

Maybe we should change our conversation to lizards.

Lizards store their body energy in their tails, so dont pull the tails off them.

Did you know that lizards cant run and breathe at the same time?

Can Gila Monsters run?

What eats Gila Monsters?

How long are Gila Monsters?

Lizard joke...

A monkey is sitting in a tree, smoking a joint, when a lizard walks past. The lizard looks up and says to the monkey "Hey! what are you doing?" The monkey says "Smoking a joint, come up and join me, my cold-blooded friend." So the lizard climbs up and sits next to the monkey and they have another joint.

After a while the lizard says his mouth is 'dry', and that he's going to get a drink from the river.

At the riverbank, the lizard is so stoned that he leans too far over and falls in. A Crocodile sees this and swims over to the stoned lizard, helping him to the side. He then asks the lizard, "What's the matter with you?!"

The lizard explains to the crocodile that he was sitting in the tree, smoking a joint with his new monkey friend. He then explained how his mouth got dry, and that he was so wasted that, when he went to get a drink from the river, he fell in!

The inquisitive crocodile says he has to check this out He walks into the jungle and finds the tree where the monkey is sitting, finishing a joint. He looks up and says "Hey, MONKEY!"

The Monkey looks down and says "HOLY SHHIIIITT, DUDE....... how much water did you drink?"

That's a good one!

Gila Monsters....

One lived in our backyard for a while, though it's been a while since I've seen it. It was always moving slowly when I saw it, but it gave the feeling that it could move faster! This one was about 15 inches long, maybe a bit longer. Really thick. I've got no idea what eats them... maybe hawks? Or vultures, after they die? Perhaps a coyote, though I think that might be an interesting batttle.

Or maybe a Wildcat!

From Wiki...

The Gila monster's bite is normally not fatal to adult humans (there are no confirmed reports of fatalities), but it can bite quickly and hold on tenaciously and painfully. If bitten, the victim may need to fully submerge the attacking lizard in water to break free from its bite.

I guess my question is where do you find pools of water in the desert to submerge a lizard that is latched on to a person? It is probably easier to find a dope smoking monkey in a tree to get the Gila Monster distracted.

I think you are right about that! The nearest pool of water to "our" Gila Monster would have been the toilet. Or possibly the neighbor's pool!
