G -

OK,

THURSDAY INCIDENT - I called him (late), as he had left to go out of town for work, and I was, truly, gasping for air, my heart rate was sky high, and I was sweating through my pajamas. (Otherwise, I would have probably just tried the techniques, and went on w/my evening sleep routine!) He was in "fixer" mode. Ex: "OK, let's take your heart rate... you count your beats, and I'll keep track of time. Should I call D18 to come and take you to ER? Should I call neighbors to take you? What techniques have you tried?" We talked through it, and after about four phone calls from him, and me trying things independently, we had success, and I had a normal rhythm.

SATURDAY INCIDENT - He came into our room, looking for me, and I told him it was happening again (I was in the bathroom). I asked him to get me a bowl of ice (technique is to dunk your head in a bowl of ice water to shock your system back to normal). After that, I went through it all on my own, but he was laying on the bed, with me next to him in between dunks, etc... He helped me time my pulse. Also, (this is nice!) he saw first hand that the situation makes me hurl, and then the heart rate comes down quite quickly after that... I was up and down from the bed about 10 times. It was becoming a bit funny, actually. So, basically, I didn't require much from him, didn't request anything except the ice, but appreciated him being next to me. (I did a lot on my own in the bathroom.)

I just don't want to be thought of as this failing health, needy wife now. NOT ATTRACTIVE

Also, I let him know I tied the two incidents to a trigger (breathing treatments both days for pneumonia), so hopefully it won't happen again!
