I can't remember, but was it your wife that was not wanting to attend your church, or had a different religion? I think I am thinking of someone else that used to post here, but I wanted to make sure. I saw that you mentioned you both letting God lead, and that is wonderful!

I love how God is restoring you both! and thankful that she has been well too!

Perhaps it was somebody else Crissy. The two of us were M'd in the Catholic church. Before the D we would go to church together semi-regularly. In the very early portion of our M it would be me, my W & SD15(then). I would be their entertainment when I would sing hymns. According to them I am tone deaf and would be always out of key but what do they know!! LOL.

I gave thought to joining the Catholic church since that is where W has been most comfortable. Recently though she has said that she strongly desires to join a church that is ..in her words "bible-based". Music to my ears ..as tone deaf as they may be.

hmmmm, well, actually the catholic church is extremely bible based. everything they say is from the bible. But I chose to leave the catholic church because I didn't want my kids hating to go like I did. They don't LOVE to go to church, but they don't hate it either., we go to a Lutheran church, but our service is contemporary. So, we still have a somewhat ritualistic service, but with a little more fun with the band that I play in and the music we get to play. I definitely don't miss the masses! my gma would roll over in her grave if she read that. and my young child gets to be with us for the first half thru to the gospel reading, and then he gets to go to Kid's Praise, where he gets to learn about the sermon on HIS level. I love that. and I love that he still is in with us for part of it too.

but to me, we are all christian, and we all need to be a part of a church, so perhaps just start attending some and see where you feel God is leading you to go? I think it is really important that you find a place that you can be INVOLVED in...groups, studies, etc.

and hey, it doesn't matter if your tone deaf! God wants true praise in however you can praise him!

Interesting viewpoint, ..not quite one that I share especially the insertion of the word extremely. And the second sentence I don't quite know what to make of so I'll steer clear of it. Mind you I do not consider myself a Catholic basher in the least. I knew of it's strengths and weaknesses when I chose to M in the church. When considering churches to join it is not altogether ruled out. I very nearly did join at one time. At times the church is to big to get out of it's own way sorta.

I agree. It is my quest.

Ps 77 has more to say

10 And I said, "This is my fate,

that the blessings of the Most High have changed to hatred."

11 I recall all you have done, O LORD;

I remember your wonderful deeds of long ago.

I used to think the same...being brought up in a nondenominational school all my life, and hearing catholic bashing, but I read long ago, a protestant that took everything that is said during mass, and they take it all from the bible. now, I'm not talking about the sermon, as that is generally only 10 minutes long anyways...but the songs they do between readings, and the other ritual sayings are all bible verses.

Now, if you are talking about translation of the bible...that may be different. And actually, the more I read the bible, the more I see that Catholics are very close to the truth. There are some things that I don't agree with though, say, confession, but I had a priest say that I could definitely confess to God, but that confession was a sacrament, and most people will not consistently look at their sins. I'm sure there are other priests that look at it differently though.

anyways, I know you didn't want to go there, but thought I'd explain myself a bit anyways.

the important thing is that you know your savior and you are doing his will. smile

12 They are constantly in my thoughts.

I cannot stop thinking about them.

13 O God, your ways are holy.

Is there any god as mighty as you?
