but I also don't want to miss being there for kids on Christmas morning...

Agreed. Never put the kids in the middle. Her hanging the stocking, also agreed, this is the time that no matter how (most) of them are still so determined you are the blame, their emotions start developing an appetite on them.

Of course both of you are right...Of course I have to get the invite so no need to worry about what to do.
Last night out of the blue S asks if I'm coming over for Christmas...I tell him I'm not sure...He asks why...I just tell him it's something me and Mom need to talk about...Wasn't sure what else to say.

Crap I hate...Took kids to sing at a rest home on Tuesday, good time, but on the ride home they asked if I was coming for Christmas...Told them Mom and I would talk about it, I know I'm not but it caught me off guard since it was out of the blue...
Last night took my son to a bball game, ex got free tickets and gave them to me to take son...He asked again, I changed the subject.
I don't think I should be the one to answer this, it should be ex but I don't want to put the kids in the middle...Part of me wants to say mom doesn't want me to, but I would never do that.

Haven't posted in a while thought I would just post a little something...Not much new still trying to get all the property settlement stuff worked out on the D, nothing either side is holding up or being vindictive just crap that's happening...
One weird thing the last two weeks the ex seems to be talking to me a lot more, we always talked but not usually more than a few minutes here and there...
I'm not sure why but I sent her the following text:
Going to take kids bowling dinner then home if ok...You're welcome to join.
I used to invite her all the time when we were "just" S to do stuff and 95% of the time she said no and I haven't invited her for months and months...I get a text back "where and what time" was expecting something like too many things to do,ect.
She called me right away also so I told her our plans and she's coming, I'm like ok, thinking wtf...You haven't wanted to do anything with us for years but now? Oh well we all like bowling so it should be fun.
Still not sure what made me invite her in the first place...

So Ex didn't come bowling, she was getting a little sick so she stayed home...She asked me to call her when done about dinner.
She did meet us for dinner it was pretty fun nothing big though...Funny thing ex was sick and I started coughing (inhaled) some spice...D says are sick of Mommy, ex and I both bust out laughing, I say not now but sometimes (with a smile).
Still not sure why I asked her and why she came...

"No, I'm not a pessimist. At some point the world $hits on everybody. Pretending it ain't $hit makes you an idiot, not an optimist."
I really liked that...I take it as we have to realize our problems are problems and fix them and not pretend everything will just be ok, it takes work.
BTW if you haven't read that twitter site, very funny stuff, but obviously some harsh language.
