H got home from the Poker game, and some friends were over, as the husband was setting up XBOX Live for S12 for me/us. I was in the kitchen cooking when they came, and I continued to do so.
Get this... this was SO yummy....!
H had deep-fried our turkey on Thanksgiving, so we saved the pea nut oil for today. I beer battered chicken breasts and jumbo shrimp, and I made home-made crab cakes (Sheesh! Crab is expensive! $25 a pound!) H deep-fried all of the above, and we had it w/the seven hundred side dish left overs from Thanksgiving. We were all standing and sitting around the kitchen eating, and H must have made 15 jokes, a few at my expense, but making sure I was ok w/the joke. (Why wouldn't I be? I'm an easy smile!)
So, the calling him out on a frustration, giving him space to separate from it/me, and do something enjoyable worked wonders.
Question and thought to ponder...
It was a year ago that I started DB'ing. Today, I think it was Gno that mentioned "taking the pressure off." For the love of God! I've been doing it for a year!!! (Today's type of situation doesn't happen very often. If I take any more pressure off...)

Hey MF, quick Q... when was the last time you gave your H a complement?
Didn't see this. Oh, he11, a lot.
Examples: D18 told him to go to The Buckle to buy some new jeans. He goes, comes home, and shows me his bag of goodies. He models the jeans. I tell him they look awesome, and he looks hot.
Tonight he is telling our friends H about the Poker game he was at, and lost $38. I told the friends (in front of him) that this is rare. H is an awesome player, and he usually has some winnings to share w/the family. (He hasn't played in a loooong time, though.)
Stuff like that.
I like your hair, after this recent cut.
How are you so superb w/numbers? I can't believe you just added that entire list in your head.
I think I have that covered. Who knows?! I automate research labs in pharmaceutical companies for a living. Sounds stale, but I SELL. Sh*t just pours out w/out thought sometimes. ya know?

I'm off to go do something to my D18! Just found out she has a TATTOO! (Thought it was temporary last winter...) I think I will spank her! And, it's at her bikini line! So, that means it had to be exposed! Pray for this child. She may not see the light of day! God! It's permanent!

OK... reason I was asking... most of that is... well... how can I put it... a bit superficial?

Well, it got me to thinking... <pregnant pause> I can't remember the last time I told you this... I admire and respect you for the man you are. Most men would have given up or avoided the issues we had with D18. Not you. You went above and beyond. In my eyes and in hers you're her Dad and a shining example for our sons. SadGirl! Oy! Funny what you find out by browsing her fb page! She reminds me so much of myself at her age. Livin' large, and having a blast. She's doing well in school, supporting (mostly) herself in an apartment w/two girlfriends. But, a tattoo??!?!?!? Yikes.
