Odog, I saw a great video on u toob (trying to not get censored) of a moose gut pile (sounds nice, eh? ) down here and the animals that visited it, its on my FB, but there were bears, lynx, lots of coyotes, lots of birds and a huge eagle, and others. I thought it was pretty cool, antlers- you sound like you might enjoy it too, lots of predators/scavengers, you can find it if you search for moose gut pile. The bear is having a great time.
I guess I gave the wrong finger to the wrong man...
Cool video. I'm glad they included the disclaimer saying if you see something like this in the woods, stay away! Seems like the bear attack stories always include something about guarding food.

Took the kids over to "Mom's House" this morning. Stayed a little while to do the annual ski stuff inventory. With two or three sets of boards each it takes a while figure it out. Jumping kids don't help either.
Moved around and sorted some holiday stuff too. I've got a basket of lights to do something with. The kids can figure something out at my house.
I helped them put up their xmas tree too. No decorations or anything - just stood it up.
The she was grateful I helped out. Yeah, whatever. I don't have anything going on this morning. Kids will be happy about the tree.
Stopped at REI on the way home to feed my bike addiction. Going to go riding a little later today.

"The object of metta meditation is loving kindness (love without Upadana, that is, attachment). Traditionally, the practice begins with the meditator cultivating loving kindness towards themselves,[7] then their loved ones, friends, teachers, strangers, enemies, and finally towards all sentient beings...
Buddhists believe that those who cultivate metta; will be at ease because they see no need to harbour ill will or hostility. Buddhist teachers may even recommend meditation on metta; as an antidote to insomnia and nightmares. It is generally felt that those around a metta;-full person will feel more comfortable and happy too. Radiating metta; is thought to contribute to a world of love, peace and happiness.
Metta meditation is considered a good way to calm down a distraught mind by people who consider it to be an antidote to anger. According to them, someone who has cultivated metta will not be easily angered and can quickly subdue anger that arises, being more caring, more loving, and more likely to love unconditionally. Recent neurological studies have shown that compassion meditation can increase one's capabilities for empathy by changing activity in brain areas such as the temporal parietal juncture and the insula, and increase the subject's ability to understand the mental and emotional states of others[8] as well as deal more effectively with external stressors.[9]..."

Odog, I need to go to REI, I have a sleeping bag shaped itch that I have been feeling the need to scratch. Sort of ridiculous since its snowing, Im def not doing any camping any time soon!
Im glad to hear that your planning on letting the kids decorate your place, it will be nice for your PMA over the next few weeks, which is exactly why I need to get my lights and stuff out too. And Im sure that they will do a fabulous job!
Im hoping that with all of this new snow I will be able to get someone to take me skiing this week.
Did you make it out on your ride today?

Sounds like you need an REI fix? If you need an excuse to buy the sleeping bag then make a reservation to stay at one of the Forest Service cabins. Less extreme than tent camping. Lots of fun.
I got back from my ride about 30 or 40 min ago. The trails were bumpy and tough to ride on so I ended up on roads. Stopped to talk to a friend out on his fatback bike. He had a much easier time on the trails.

O'Dog, Thanks. I just googled metta as I had not heard of it before, Seems powerful and done in a healthy progression.
I'm sure you've heard of Brain Waves,Electrical vibrating cycles per session (Hz): Beta, alpha, theta, delta,
A few years ago (#?) another was discovered: Gamma (40Hz) and was later confirmed in a University of Wisconsin, Madison study authorized by the Dali Lama, measuring hundreds of Tibetan Monks in deep meditation on "Loving compassion." Sure enough: a new level -Gamma, which resulted in what was labeled Binding. Through binding the brain gathers and integrates iinfo from all our senses and binds them into a cohesive whole.
Going on and on again...
Google Dr. Jeffrey Thompson. I use his cds twice daily. As an aid. All proven, all very scientific and they have helped me greatly. fwiw

Mmm...true about Campmor but then you wouldn't have an excuse to come to the big city.
No, I don't want any rain on top of this stuff. I can retreat indoors to my trainer to ride (boring!) but sooner or later I have to venture out in my car and that wouldn't be good.

I just turned in a new round of job apps, so *hopefully* I will have a good excuse soon! Its probably good for me to stay away from the sporting good stores, last time I went to sportsmans warehouse, I went about way over budget!
I have been trying to get myself motivated to start going back to the pool, its always a balmy 90 degrees at the pool! I havent been for swimming a while, and its a good time of year to get out of the cold for me. I dont usually realize how much I miss it until Im actually there, but I highly recommend it!
