Good for you! I made my kids go with me one year to do that, but it was Christmas time. All they were doing was complaining about what they wanted for Xmas and I took them to a shelter and we served dinner. What an eye opener.

I am sorry you didn't see your kids. That breaks my heart. You didn't want the D, you wanted your marriage and family together, but yet YOU are the one who made the sacrifice. That stinks. You do have a good outlook though. I probably would have crumbled.
