Hi.

I checked out the website you suggested...those dudes are insane! Talk about 'extreme'! I get it though. I understand the 'drive' to do things like that. I took a 60 mile bicycle ride this morning. And I'm still thinking about the mountain bike...probably get one soon. Maybe go with the Giant Xtc 29er...either the 1 or 2.

Anyway, you're a good man O'dog, and your dad is smart enough to recognize that. Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks Antlers, and a Happy Thanksgiving to you too.

29'er will do you well. I put studded tires on my Mt bike this season. Great investment.

___

Picked up kids today and they just went on and on about the moose collision. D said she cried at recess thinking about what could have happened. That concerns me.

Aw O'dog, your dads comment made me a little misty too! I would be a little worried about your D crying too. It seems like such a common thing that she would be a little desensitized to it, not to mention the fact that everyone was ok in the end...

Maybe she was just scared? Have any of her friends been in a scary accident lately? Im sure that if it becomes a real concern, her school would have measures in place. Maybe shes just a little more sensitive than normal right now.

I came upon a mortally wounded moose that had been hit by a dump truck last summer, I stopped to talk to the truck driver and call the troopers and the driver of next pickup behind me hopped out, pulled out her gun and dispatched the moose. Just like that! I have to say, I do agree that the animal needed to have its suffering ended, but Im not sure that I needed to witness it! Thats my traumatic moose story.

I guess I gave the wrong finger to the wrong man...

I don't know of any friends who have been in accidents but this shook her up. I told her mom to keep an eye on both the kids and take it easy the next few days. No scary or tragic movies.

I haven't had any tragic moose stories in my own life (yet). I run/ride up on them all the time on the trails and sometimes get close enough for a hackles-up bluff. June/July is the worst because the protective moms with calves.

Hey Dog..

Does part of driver's ed in Alaska include defensive moose maneuvers? I think it's required in Maine. whistle

Y'all are smart parents to monitor the kids after an unsettling interaction with one of nature's larger mammals. Hope your kids are feeling better. They have great folks looking after them.

*hugs*

I don't know about moose and Driver's ed. I know that moose aren't smart enough to take Driver's ed.

A few years ago I took a motorcycle course for experienced riders (highly recommend it - plus it's worth an insurance discount with some companies) and we had to take a time out while a baby moose and mom walked from one end of the pavement to the other. Neither one of them got credit for the course.

Ugh...got called into a meeting to discuss letting someone go. "Maybe we can keep him on contract" was the best we could do. Of all the sections of the company, we should be growing, but instead we're waiting for a bunch of "maybe" work. This is bad. I feel like I haven't done enough.

He's in my thoughts.

Thanks Gypsy.

___

The boss took us out for lunch. We're going to try to keep as much contract stuff moving thru as we can.

O'dog is thankful for:

- a job
- a house (ok, I rent but I still have a nice place to live)
- two children
- a dog (yes, the real dog)
- good physical shape (wanna' go running?)
- friends (you're included db'ers)
- family
...too many other things to list...sniffle...
