When you stop having any expectations you wont be so open to hurt. If he follows through then great, if not, well you don't have expectations he would so it shouldn't matter.
We feel hurt because we ALLOW our WAS to let us down. From this point forward figure he will let you down 99.9% of the time and it won't get to you so much.
IMO there is too much communication. Your H is responsible for his actions and own well being. If he does something stupid because of his drinking or depresssion that is for him to own and deal with. You are pursuing him under the guise of "him being okay". It's not your issue to deal with, it is his.
