Oh yes, I did. Most men are just not warm and fuzzy. I know there are exceptions, but it's just not the same kind of comforting that sick kids typically get from their mothers. KWIM?

I remember getting saltines and 7-up when I was sick with anything that made my stomach sensitive. And chicken noodle soup of course. Since my dad was retired by the time I was in high school, and before that he had often worked graveyards, he was usually home during the day with us if we were sick. He would pull out a stack of movies, set up the couch with soup, crackers, 7-up and tea with milk and then curl up with us and sleep lol.

Well, I must be the extreme exception to the rule and certainly not tooty-fruity, because when the boys are sick, they beg me to come get them and take care of them. But then again, for a while, that was even pre-MLC?/A/S/D, whatever as XW would just send them to school, unless I stayed home and actually took care of them. Matter of fact I was the stay at home parent for the first year & 1/2. wink

Dday, it's the same with me. My W is so into her job that she'll send them to school unless they are puking on the way out. Earlier this year after I'd stayed home a day and couldn't two in a row, she actually left D10 home alone because she didn't want to miss work.

Dad's can be great comfort givers too. I am just in such shock that this guy who keeps saying give me more time with them, doesn't do too much with them.

D11 fell off of a scooter yesterday and scrapped her thigh. he mentioned it when he dropped her off. I told him that I didn't think it was really all that safe since they can only ride in the street. All he could say was that he was within 3 yeards of them the whole time. I asked if he usually had them wearing pads and a helmet. He lied and said yes. After he left D11 said they never wear anything extra but that sometimes when D9 rides her bike she will put on a helmet.

I know I am overprotective. Anyway isn't my bat story a whole lot more fun than this? Especially since it really happened!!

I art here, bro. You know I can't say I am as sensitive to the needs of my kids as a mother might be. I can be as sweet and compassionate as I can be, but it just doesn't have the same effect as the "female touch". But that doesn't mean for one second I feel any less concern for my children than their mother might -- I just express it differently.

Besides, how motherly can even Miss uber-RN be when she's willing to throw her own child to the sharks for the purpose of fostering a better relationship with her OM? (go read my thread if I need to explain that.)
