I can relate to the quote too.

When I rode the Hotter N' Hell 100 I mentally broke it up into ten 10 mile rides or five 20 miles rides 'before' the ride...because I thought it would help me to break it up into smaller 'bite-sized' pieces that I could 'chew' easier. But when I got out there and started riding...I just rode...and I rode, until I crossed the finish line.

"Always go straight forward, and if you meet the devil, cut him in two and go between the pieces." - William Sturgis, clipper ship captain, 1830's.

Dammit!

The owners announced they are suspending all pd holidays and will furlough everyone (including themselves) for one week in Dec. It's better than losing jobs but things aren't cheery around here.

Time to update resume and portfolio.

I shared schedule and news with the she. Talked about next month and Jan expenses. It was a good talk in that we exchanged information and solutions but without too much attachment.

She's getting worked over for some unreimbursed medical expenses.

There have been months in the past year or three when I don't think I could have dealt with a possible challenge ($, work) but right now I'm up to it.

Hey Dog..

A friend of mine ran in the Midnight Sun Marathon this year. Another went on a five or six week off road solo motorcycle trip in your fair state. Can't tell you how much those post cards inspire me.

*hugs*

Got a text this morning. On the way to school/work the she and kids hit a moose. The animal kind of lurched out into the road but she was able to veer off and just bumped it. The kids, she, car, and the moose are all OK. Could have been a lot worse.

There are at least hundred or so of these permanent residents with antlers living in the city and neighborhoods.

FB is so unusual. An old GF from 7th grade has been following me around for a while. Whatever. (Those of you who know me on FB could probably guess who she is).

Last night I emailed my Dad about my travel plans for xmas to see him and included news about the company. Told him I was going to get my resume and portfolio ready just in case. He responded, "Don't worry about gifts. You being here is a special gift to me." I sniffled a little.
