That's a step forward O'dog. I remember after we first separated when my daughter had a friend over to spend the night, how weird it felt...but now, it's par for the course. No big deal now. Sounds like they had a good time at the sleepover...and that's a good job done by you. Way to go.

They had a good time. After lunch I took D to get her some new skates ("I only want white figure skates Duhdee") then I took both of them bowling. D posted on FB that she "...had a very good day!!!"
The she picked 'em up a little while ago so I have the rest of the weekend to myself. We were talking about carpooling out the roller derby meet in a nearby place but that fell thru dammit and I don't want to drive out there all by myself! I was looking forward to watching the Rage City chicks rough up SEA bad. So I don't know, more phone calls

Hey odog, I just realized today that we only have 30 more days till the days start getting longer! Of course, thats about when the weather starts getting worse, but Ill take my small victories!
Congrats on your first girl sleep over, sounds like you handled it well!
As an outside observer, it sounds like you have had a pretty good week my friend. I think its because of the new ink
I guess I gave the wrong finger to the wrong man...
Can't underestimate the ink. I'm really surprised that even though I thought I had completely thought it thru there was still some feelings of "wow, I really did that". I like it . I feel like I'm doing it by my rules now. May I ask what ink you have?
My mood has been good for a while. I don't entirely know why but I just seem to be enjoying things so much better.
Yay solstice. I just love it when it gets brighter. Thanks for the reminder.
It was a little warmer today. Tomorrow I'm going to get outside on my bike.

Hey O'dog...hope it's a good ride. This is from one of today’s best mountain ultra runners after he won the Leadville 100 mile trail race.
“The walls of life necessarily close in at moments like this. Everything, everything becomes about the current step. Each step has a wall constructed around it that prevents seeing forward or looking backward. There is no thought of how far one has already come or of how far one still has to go. Occasionally, wrenchingly, the mind endeavors to poke its neck up, scale the barrier that surrounds each step, peer over the top, and see out. If it is successful the results are borderline-catastrophic. Game-ending. The enormity of the task, the context of miles and elevation that bracket each step are simply too much to bare. The only way the thing can be done is to brace up those walls around each step and do one's best to not peek over.”

I though a deep thinker like you would appreciate it.

I don't know if you've ever experienced playing mental games with the distance to assure yourself that you are getting closer to the finish. "In two miles I will be 1/4th of the way to 2/3rds mark..." If I start doing this stuff then usually something is wrong.
Indeed on longer distances emotions become so strong. I did an Ironman a few years ago (and I'm overdue for another one) and it was a very intense day; despair and sadness to intense bliss.
I've still got a 50 miler run and maybe a 100 miler on my 47 Things list yet to check off. I haven't pushed it nearly far enough yet.
Sometime look at the website for Adventurecorps. They've got a Death Valley Century and Double Century during the spring and fall (no intense heat). I know a couple who has rode these a few times and said they are just beautiful rides.
Same company also sponsors the Badwater UltraMarathon (135mi run starting in Death Valley and finishing at the top of Mt. Whitney) and Furnace Creek 508 (bike ride). The 508 even has fixed-gear divisions so if riding 500+ miles thru the desert isn't hard enough you can limit yourself to one gear (and a steel frame). Brutal stuff.

If you want to ever want to plan an AK trip there are not only a few Tris (Sprint to Half-IM distance) but there is also a major ride in mid-July called the Fireweed with distances of 50, 100, 200, and 400 miles. O'Dog loves to ride.
