yeah, I'm with ya Jeff. I'm Catholic and that didn't resonate with me. I think the priest is saying with the sacrament of confirmation you will receive a sacramental grace with graces proper to the sacrament. Confirmation is about being annoited with chrism oil and sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit being the source of grace. You don't earn stripes to get grace. It's yours for the asking.
That being said you can be in a different state of grace, how close you are to God, just like any relationship. And like we know, relationships take time and love to thrive.
