Well, think about it this way. Do you want to live your life with someone who will walk away from you because of one day of "bad" behavior? (I'm not talking about abuse, obviously, just ordinary human imperfection.)

I would also point out, Britt, that this (the "oh, NOW you've done it! You've blown ANY CHANCE WE HAD!") is very much typical wayward SCRIPT. While it is usually said in conjunction with having their affair exposed, it can also come after a successful round of "fight-picking," or even just some routine faux pas on your part.
