Looked at a house last week. Wrote an offer, received a counteroffer, wrote a counteroffer, should hear back today. It's so scary because I currently come off active orders on December 30th, and I don't have a job lined up yet (trying for a 6-month extension of my orders). But I would still have to pay rent regardless, and having a house would obviously be an improvement over throwing away my rent every month.
Having a minor panic attack over it. Especially since I already have nearly 100k in student loans. But I can consolidate and put those in extended repayment to cut my monthly bills, so I have some flexibility.
I'm also excited cuz I'm looking at smaller houses, this one is a 3/1. I also wrote an offer on a 2/1 (but it's a bank repo and I haven't heard back from them yet).
I never planned on doing this on my own. It was always something XH and I talked about doing together, on two incomes. There's no safety net when it's just me, (although I probably will rent out a room). But at the same time it would be so nice to have my own place, and I would be buying something tangible instead of a diploma LMAO.
