He is awesome, John! I absolutely love him. However I am in a bit of a dilemma over my pastor these days...

He is by far the best pastor I have ever had except for one in Pasadena, but they are neck and neck. Anyway, he told our congregation in July/August that he felt a call to do something else and would be leaving the church in November. This Sunday is his last Sunday.

Well, I asked him after church last week where he was going. Turns out, he isn't going anywhere! He felt led to start a new, non-denominational Christian church right here in town. shocked

He said he wants to grow a church with a more contemporary approach to spreading God's word. Which would include more current music, probably bands, a more active youth membership, etc. Our church is 70% over the age of 55 so it is not happening here...

Our church (he said) has been surprisingly supportive of his move. I am hoping they have services at a different time so I can go to both churches for awhile and figure out where I fit best.

John, you are right, the one thing Pastor Perry has been consistent on since I first talked to him last winter was that Dan as he is now, is bad news. And I should stay very far away from him... In fact Pastor's wife is his second wife, his first wife cheated and left him. So he totally 'gets it'...He has been with his current wife for 20 years now.
