A romantic novel about a Texas girl transplanted in New England? Or is that science fiction?

Grant writing.

Start by writing yourself a grant to do something meaningful.

(I'm pondering ideas to get out of this box and start paying my own salary own with some sort of mix of grants, publishing, web development, data exchange - very blurry right now.)

Submit an article/story to a magazine. They have the "Single in the Suburbs" on MSN, they certainly could have "Katie's Take" in Redbook or a simliar magazine.

Gypsy,

You might want to call your loan holder before you use a 3rd party to refinance. I was able to reduce my interest rate by a full point for $1500 in closing costs (which could have been rolled into the loan), in one phone call. No income verification, no appraisal. We get forms to sign in a week and go to closing in December. Done. I think it was available due the the Home Affordability Refinance Program. I would think all lenders are making the same option available to those who qualify. And, though I don't know, I would guess that things get more complicated and costly if you try to change lenders.

BTW, a nice bonus of refinancing is that you get a month without a mortgage payment, just like when you first buy a house :-)

I too had refinanced about 5 years ago from a 30 to a 15 with 3 points lower and used my existing load holder. They did not charge me any closing costs. A mortgage company does not want to lose your loan and that is why they would have low or no fees to refinance.

Hey Kerry..

I inquired about an 'assumption of mortgage'.. something that costs @$900 which would take him off the mortgage. Since my sole income is alimony and he did not pay a consistent amount until some time in May I am ineligible, since I need 12 months of consistent payments. I would have been eligible Dec. 12 if the alimony and support would have been paid as decreed in the divorce.

I'll see if talking to the mortgage holder will change that, but it's complicated by me having the house on the market.

Would showing the bank the divorce decree and proving the amounts if it had started on time and he hadn't "ignored" the start date help? And by the way,

Me, too. I'm ready when you are. Maybe before or after you and your daughter see City of Lights, you and i could go. I'll even pick you up so we can have more "talk time". And,

If you guys ever do de-hermitize some night, would you consider a third hermit?

Hey G-Man...

I'm in for seeing your son's show sans my daughter, probably next (not this) weekend since she's in a show that ends on Saturday.

Hey Donna.. are you up for a threesome? (that did not come out right at all!)
