Be careful with ol' Homer. I'm sure you have seen that it is written in a bit of a doddering-old-fool style, very dated and rambling with poor grammar, syntax, etc.

More importantly, I thought that even though some of his ramblings sound DBish, there's an underlying patronizing, manipulative and chauvinist tone throughout.
