Now.. how the FRICK do I get an old shower head off? Is it brute force? I've tried pliers and a regular wrench. I don't have one of those super duper heavy duty ones the size of a small child like plumbers use. Help!
It sounds to me like you were not hitting the shower head hard enough with the wrench. I am sure your inner strength will come out and the shower head will easily come off if you imagine the shower head as your X's head. (This is just a joke and I in no way endorse violence against your ex spouse)
Seriously, having the right tools for the job is important. Renting the tools may be an option. Even paying the plumber to do it right might be cheap than breaking the pipe in the wrong spot and having to pay the plumber to fix more issues....
