Big red stop sign needed here JCJ. If you didn't get the messages, how could you have known that H's back was playing up? OK, so he had a valid reason but you are NOT to feel bad. That would be reacting and we know that's a bad thing in this game!
The good news is that he says he will be in touch when he gets back. Ergo, he does not bear a grudge that he did not hear from you. This is a positive which you can keep front and centre.
Being women, we do assume the worst. It's why we react I guess, without looking for evidence or facts first. It would have been good if you could have chatted a bit before he leaves but you are now just going to have to be patient ... again, for a bit longer.
