F, I had to chuckle at what you posted. He slipped up and told you that he wasn't doing anything for his birthday, but....he wanted to make sure you knew he had dates for the next night. I suspect he's not dating that much, if at all. Three dates for the same night? I don't think so.
Your xh doesn't want you to know that his life is not going the way he planned it. Just let the comment slide off your back and continue doing what you've been doing.
He's not out of the tunnel yet...but time will tell as to just how fast he's moving towards the finish line.
Sit quietly, the answers will reveal themselves when you least expect them to. The past is gone, the present is a gift and you need to focus on today, allow the future to reveal itself when it is ready.
